Trade, industry, and professional associations can be excellent sources for facts, statistics, reports, and can be a place to locate contacts to speak with about the industry.  Often (but not always) their data and reports are freely available on their websites.

Public Library Resources

Resources vary depending on the library.  Visit the each library's website to see the unique set of business resources offered by the institution.

Small Business Owner Resources

Government Resources

Consulting Firms

Consulting firms publish industry case studies, industry overviews, and research reports. For example, Deloitte's Insights Industry Outlook reports are available on the Wall Street Journal website.
