Trade, industry, and professional associations can be excellent sources for facts, statistics, reports, and can be a place to locate contacts to speak with about the industry.  Often (but not always) their data and reports are freely available on their websites.

Public Library Resources

Resources vary depending on the library.  Visit the each library's website to see the unique set of business resources offered by the institution.

Small Business Owner Resources

The Connecticut SBDC provides FREE business resources including Business Advisors which provides demographics, consumer spending data, financial projections and more! Email

Government Resources

Government agencies collect data on business activity and issue reports based on industry classifications and/or geographical location.

Consulting Firms

Consulting firms publish industry case studies, industry overviews, and research reports. For example, Deloitte's Insights Industry Outlook reports are available on the Wall Street Journal website.

University Library Resources

Local university libraries have access to company financials, marketing reports, industry studies and statistical resources, available to use in their library.
