Library Collection Resources

The Library has online resources that can help you learn a new language from scratch, pick up words and phrases on the go, or help you brush up on a language you might not have used in awhile.

Language Conversation Groups

The language conversation groups are for those interested in practicing speaking another language. The groups are open to all levels of experience (unless the group leader indicates otherwise) and are are self-directed. If you are interested in starting a group in a language not offered, contact Jennifer Keller at jkeller@westportlibrary.org.

Click on the images below to learn if you need to register to join, and about who to contact if you have questions about the group.

Language Learning Online

Learning a new language can be difficult. Luckily, there are thousands of people learning to speak other languages, and there are places online where you can join in and learn with others. Below you can find 5 examples of online communities dedicated to language learning. Click on the images below to start exploring these communities!

Please Note: When joining any forum or online community, it is important to read, understand, and follow any rules that the administrators and the community have set. Being respectful, following rules, and remaining considerate of the time and effort community leaders have put into establishing these valuable spaces is key to becoming a part of the community.
