How to Find Books in the Library: Adult Nonfiction

How to Find an Adult Nonfiction Book

All nonfiction books are shelved according to the Dewey Decimal System. This is an organization system for books that assigns each book a number depending on the subject.

Note: All of our adult Nonfiction collection is now downstairs EXCEPT for books that relate to making, which are kept upstairs in the new MakerSpace balcony area. Also, if the book is labeled 'New', it will be found in the 'New Books' shelving unit near circulation.

The Dewey Decimal System

Below is a list of the Dewey Decimal System's "Second Summary." That means that it goes by a count of 10, and consists of more general topics. To see the "Third Summary," which includes every Dewey Classification number by a count of 1, click here!
